Elite Retreat Guidelines and Estimated Costs

Overview

This year’s Elite Retreat packages are designed to be “as good or better” than last year’s. In addition, the registration procedures are designed to reduce up front “out of pocket” costs for Instructors, maximize flexibility and ease of sign up for both hotel rooms and excursions, and further streamline the process in general. When reading the following guidelines, please keep in mind that the number of Kumon-paid guests, number of rooms, and amounts of meal and excursion credits varies based on Elite Status.

Airfare and ground transportation:Instructors can book all necessary flights, whether for themselves, a Kumon-paid guest, or an Instructor-paid guest, directly through a link to our travel agency, Kintetsu International, on the Elite Retreat Registration page. As long as the Instructor/guest is arriving on April 13 and departing on April 16, the booked flights will then automatically generate ground transportation reservations from/to the airport. Furthermore, as long as Instructors utilize our Kintetsu link, Kumon will pay 100% of that Instructor’s and their Kumon-paid guest(s)’ airfare rather than providing reimbursement up to a certain amount after the fact.

Hotel: Instructors can book all necessary hotel rooms at the JW Marriott, whether before, during, or after the event, directly through a link on our Elite Retreat Registration page. Kumon will provide credit to cover a standard room(s) on the 3 nights of the event – April 13*, 14, and 15. Instructors are free to book upgrades, additional rooms, and/or additional nights. All additional hotel fees incurred through the Elite Retreat Registration website will be charge to your June Instructor Monthly Statement. *Please note that Instructors from Hawaii, Seattle, Vancouver, and Calgary Branches have the option to stay in the JW Marriott on April 12 (one night early) at no charge OR to receive up to $140 USD reimbursement to stay in a hotel during an overnight layover in another city. These same Instructors are also eligible to receive the $140 USD layover reimbursement on the return trip. Layovers should not be necessary for nearly all Instructors from other branches.

Meals:For “meals on your own,” Kumon will provide credit varying by Elite Level, directly on participants’ hotel room keys, for use in most restaurants at the Grande Lakes Resort.* Also, Kumon will offer three “group functions” – a Welcome Reception on Friday, Learning Session/Lunch on Saturday, and the Gala Dinner on Saturday night. An additional registration fee will apply for Instructor-paid guests who wish to participate in Kumon group functions. Please see further information on this page. *Please note that unused meal credits will be forfeited at the close of the event.

Excursions: Instructors can book all necessary excursions, both on and off hotel property, directly through the registration link on our Elite Retreat Registration page. Kumon will provide credit*, varying by Elite Level, to cover a good selection of excursions. For additional fees, Instructors are then free to add as many additional tours and guests as time and space allow. All excursion fees incurred though the Elite Retreat Registration website in excess of your Elite credit will be charged to your June Instructor Monthly Statement. *Please note that at the close of online registration, any unused excursion funds will be credited to the Instructor’s room key, along with the meal credits for which they are eligible, to be used on the resort. You may utilize these credits during your time at the resort for on-site activities (depending upon availability), meals, or even child care at Ritz Kids. Unused credits will be forfeited at the end of the event.

Elite Retreat Packages based on Elite Status

Platinum Elite Instructors

1. Free Airfare for Instructor + 2 Guests (must be booked through Kintetsu International).
2. Free Ground Transportation from/to airport on specified days (for those who arrive on April 13 and depart on April 16) for Instructor + 2 Guests.
3. 2 free rooms on April 13, 14, and 15 at the JW Marriott. Includes free in-room Internet.
4. $600 USD credit toward on- and off-site excursions ($200/per person for Instructor + 2 Guests).
5. $825 USD in meal credits that can be used throughout the Grande Lakes Resort ($275/per person for Instructor + 2 Guests). Please see Hotel section of this website for further details on restaurants throughout the resort.
6. Free access to all Kumon “group functions” for Instructor + 2 Guests.

Gold Elite Instructors

1. Free Airfare for Instructor + 1 Guest (must be booked through Kintetsu International).
2. Free Ground Transportation from/to airport on specified days (for those who arrive on April 13 and depart on April 16) for Instructor + 1 Guest.
3. Free room on April 13, 14, and 15 at the JW Marriott. Includes free in-room Internet.
4. $400 USD credit toward on- and off-site excursions ($200/per person for Instructor + 1 Guest).
5. $550 USD in meal credits that can be used throughout the Grande Lakes Resort ($275/per person for Instructor + 1 Guest). Please see Hotel section of this website for further details on restaurants throughout the resort.
6. Free access to all Kumon “group functions” for Instructor + 1 Guest.

Silver Elite Instructors

1. Free Airfare for Instructor only (must be booked through Kintetsu International).
2. Free Ground Transportation from/to airport on specified days (for those who arrive on April 13 and depart on April 16) for Instructor only.
3. Free room on April 13, 14, and 15 at the JW Marriott. Includes free in-room Internet..
4. $200 USD credit toward on- and off-site excursions.
5. $275 USD in meal credits that can be used throughout the Grande Lakes Resort. Please see Hotel section of this website for further details on restaurants throughout the resort.
6. Free access to all Kumon “group functions” for Instructor only

Elite Partnership Instructors

For all Partnership Instructors, the Math partner will be considered the “Instructor” and the Reading partner will be considered the 1st guest of the Instructor. Please note that Partnership Instructors will need to register using the same registration form.

• Platinum Elite Partners: Math Instructor = Instructor; Reading Instructor = Free Guest #1
• Gold Elite Partners: Math Instructor = Instructor; Reading Instructor = Free Guest
• Silver Elite Partners: Math Instructor = Instructor; Reading Instructor = Instructor-paid Guest

Hotel Fees



• Room rate for one or two adults: $178.88
• Third adult (13 and older): $22.50/night
• Children (12 and under): No additional charge

Kumon Events Registration for Additional Instructor-Paid Guests




This registration fee is for those Instructors who would like to register additional guests (outside of those who are included in the Platinum and Gold packages) to attend all of the Kumon “group functions” (Welcome Reception, Learning Session + Lunch, Gala Dinner).

• Guests 21 and over: $150/person
• Guests under 21: $75/person

Extending Your Stay in Orlando at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes

• Reservations for the nights of the event – Friday, April 13, Saturday, April 14, and Sunday, April 15 – must be made through the Elite Retreat Registration website. Reservations for additional nights at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes may (but need not) be made through the website or you may call toll-free at 1-800-576-5720. All additional fees incurred through the Elite Retreat Registration website will be charged to your June Instructor Monthly Statement.
• You are more than welcome to extend your stay, either at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes or at another hotel. However, you will be responsible for making all the reservations, for the cost of any additional hotel nights/meals, and for your ground transportation from/to the airport.
• Kumon has blocked a limited number of rooms at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes for three (3) days prior to and three (3) days after the event. The Kumon discounted rate for rooms for the additional nights is $178.88 for up to two adults and $22.50 for a third adult (13 and over) in the same room. There is no additional charge for children (12 and under).
