Natural beauty abounds in Vancouver, but it is paired with a unique and very cosmopolitan city feel. "Vancouver is Manhattan with mountains. It's a liquid city, a tomorrow city, equal parts India, China, England, France and the Pacific Northwest. It's the cool North American sibling." - The New York Times.

Every session of the conference, from the keynote address to the workshops, is designed to support and enhance our efforts to “make the most of a student’s first year,” Kumon University’s 2011 Instructional Slogan. With multiple main stage presentations and the opportunity to attend 5 workshops, you are sure to come away with practical knowledge that you can utilize to help your students achieve their full potential by getting off to a solid start in their first year of study.

This year’s Keynote Speaker, Mrs. Akemi Morimoto of Himeji Province in Japan, has 30 years experience, 82.2% first year retention, and enables 82.9% of her students to reach grade level in one year. She is able to accomplish these remarkable results for her students while supporting an ever-growing enrollment of over 360 subjects. Via an engaging presentation with simultaneous live translation into English and Spanish, she will share with us what she has done to “make the most of her students’ first year”.

Networking & Social Events

The Conference is an excellent chance to network with fellow Instructors, Associates, and friends. This year, for the first time ever at a KNA Instructors Conference, seating for the general sessions will be arranged at round tables rather than theatre-style. Also, many of the workshops will be structured to allow for further networking through group discussion and other interactive activities.

As always, you will have the opportunity to relax, catch up with old friends, and make some new ones at the Welcome Reception on Thursday evening and the Gala Dinner on Saturday night.

Center Visits

Conference attendees have the option to register for a Center Visit to one of three excellent local Centers. Arlene Miljure, Tak Endo, and Shoko Yamamoto will all be opening their Center doors to visiting Instructors prior to the Conference. Capacity for all Center Visits is extremely limited; registration is not guaranteed. Register early to best ensure availability as we anticipate reaching capacity quickly.

Tours & Activities

Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and coastal mountains, Vancouver offers spectacular sights, activities, and events for everyone. This year’s conference will offer opportunities to experience the history, cultural attractions, and unrivaled natural wonder of this beautiful city.
